2026, A New Intention: Living Gently

New Year. New Intention

Every year, as December winds down, I take time to pause — not to write a list of resolutions I'll forget by the third week of January, but to choose a direction. A new intention. A guiding breath to carry me through the twelve months ahead.

For 2026, I chose gentleness.

Not passivity. Not resignation. Gentleness as an act of resistance — as a way of inhabiting your life without burning up inside it. Living gently, living fully: that's the program I've given myself, and one I want to share with you, brick by brick, month by month.

One Theme Per Month, One Intention Per Season

This year, as I do every year, I structured my twelve months around themes I chose carefully — themes that speak to what I need right now in my own life, and that I also feel resonating throughout our community.

  1. January: Creating a sense of inner peace and safety

  2. February: Talking to myself with even more love

  3. March: Simplifying my life even further

  4. April: Truly reconnecting with my body — for real, this time

  5. May: Honoring my emotional truth

  6. June: Setting even more boundaries

  7. July: Creating for and from joy

  8. August: Resting without waiting to have earned it

  9. September: Cultivating gentle relationships — or none at all

  10. October: Trusting my inner voice even more

  11. November: Even more compassion toward myself

  12. December: Closing the year in gratitude… and joy!

These are less goals to check off than reminders of promises I made to myself, a long time ago. They are inner directions — and permissions I give myself without asking anyone else's approval.

Where Does Journaling Come In?

For many years now, my notebook has been my space for dialogue with myself. It's where I set down what I feel, untangle what weighs on me, and find my way back to who I am when life gets loud around me.

This year, I intend to lean on this practice even more consciously. And I invite you to do the same.

Pick up a notebook. It doesn't have to be new — just yours. And start by writing: What do I want to feel in December 2026?
