No Matter How Much Time It Takes, if It Matters to You, Do It!

If you're one of those people who hesitates to take action precisely because what you want to do might take longer than you'd like, this message is for you!

Is Time Really Our Enemy?
Once again, I'll say that we've been conditioned to think of time as our enemy. We've been taught to chase time, to fight against it.
There's a widely held belief (one I strongly disagree with) that we should have accomplished this or that by a certain age in order to have a beautiful life or a successful life.
Says who?
This is yet another idea imposed by who-knows-who, one that far too many people have embraced without questioning its direct impact on our emotional well-being or our mental health.
What I observe most, honestly, is the stress and anxiety it creates in so many people, especially those I used to coach one-on-one.
Why should we fight against time? Time doesn't fight against us. It simply passes.
Time just passes. It's up to us to use it well.
The Most Beautiful Things Take Time
I completely understand the frustration and discouragement that can hit some people before they've even started, when a new idea, a new project, or a new goal shows up.
Honestly, I know those feelings. I feel them myself, sometimes.
I've lost count of how many clients confided in me that they were scared or troubled because "it's going to take time."
My answer was always:
"Yes, it CAN take time. So what? If it's truly what you want to do, do it! Do it and start now! The sooner you start, the sooner you'll finish! The other option is to not do it at all, and that's not what you want."
It's perfectly natural for some things to take time. But the truth is, things take THEIR time. Meaning, the time they need to unfold correctly and beautifully.
The most beautiful things - the ones that matter most to us - will take even more time. Especially because we pour a significant part of ourselves into them, and it took time for us to be created.
Nine months, indeed. That's generally how long it takes to "make" a human being. And that human being remains one of the most elaborate, most complex entities in the world. So why would we want to move faster than Nature itself when it comes to building our greatest projects and bringing our most beautiful ideas to life?
The More Important It Is, the More Time It Takes
Let's think about this together, freely:
How long did it take for the world to accept that the Earth was round and not flat?
How long did it take Nelson Mandela to successfully transform South Africa by dismantling Apartheid?
How long did it take for slavery to be recognized as a crime against humanity in France, a former slave-owning country, a major actor in the triangular trade and the slave trade?
How long did it take to announce to the world that Pluto was not a planet, but a satellite? (Raise your hand if, like me, you learned it that way in school.)
The more important and decisive something is, the longer it will take.
Your idea, your project, they are important and impactful, at least for you. That's exactly why it feels like it might take a while to bring to life. And that's okay. It's normal to feel that way.
That feeling is precisely what should convince you to take action.
Remember: the fear you feel is simply a signal - a call to gather the courage you need to move forward.

Make Time Your Best Friend!
Here's my thought:
Time works in favor of those who want to change the world or make it better
And time also works in favor of those who are ready to transform their lives according to their own desires
The more important something is, the more time it takes. And the more time it takes, the more important it becomes.
Isn't every new James Cameron film a massive box-office hit? And he releases one roughly every ten years!
So don't give up on doing something just because it might take time.
Whatever your project is, save out time to work on it, daily or weekly. Don't wait until you have the time. Take it!
Cultivate a growing faith in yourself and in your power to bring into your life (and into this world) what it so deeply needs.
Start and keep going. Because one thing is certain:
You can't finish what you haven't started!
